I am the face of Trisomy 18…
I am fighting the battle for equality.
I am the child that is desperately…
not wanting the label of living incompatibly.
The statistics against me makes the medical community believe…
the best thing for me, is to end my suffering.
I am the face of Trisomy 18…
here’s a few things that make me…ME.
I was born with an extra chromosome 18…
it affects all my cells to the point of disability.
I have clenched fists, a horseshoe kidney, and rocker bottom feet.
I am the child surviving the odds against Trisomy 18.
I am the face of Trisomy18…
the results of my FISH test came back on day three.
This is when the medical community gave up on me.
My parents were informed that I had a VSD…
and the hospital refused to do heart surgery on me.
So my parents have been searching for a surgeon for me…
who is willing to see past my diagnosis and the statistics against me.
I am the face of Trisomy 18…
I am getting the word out of the milestones I make…
I am sitting up, rolling over, eating by mouth, and standing up with assistance.
At age 2, I know with time I’ll get better with persistance.
So now that you know what makes me…ME.
I want you to know about the Trisomy 18 community.
We met online and have become family…
we are fighting together to get dignity.
Although we all have Trisomy 18…
it affects us all different individually.
We are getting the word out that even though we all have an extra 18…
that we should all be given the right to be all we can be.
Lets make a stand to work diligently…
to change the medical books and make history.
TO CHANGE THE LABEL OF LIVING INCOMPATIBLY!!
This is for all the T18 kids fighting with me…
the babies to come and the angels gone before me.
